Dear Colleagues;

Let me thank you for the numerous responses I received to my
previous memo regarding publication of e-mail in Communications in Clin.
Cytometry. There were many good thoughts and comments on this topic!
The overwhelming consensus was as follows:

- publication of e-mail is a good idea as long as a few rules are followed

- the originating author MUST be contacted prior to publication
and MUST be given the opportunity to edit comments

- only scientific issues should be considered for publication.
Comments about vendors, etc are NOT appropriate topics.

- originating authors MAY REFUSE permission for publication. I
really don't care about the legalities, if someone doesn't want to
publish, I won't!!!!

Let me assure you that this is not "big brother" watching. I do
not want to inhibit conversation on this mailing list. I just want some
of your good ideas and comments distributed more widely. Drs. LaVia,
Mayall, and Robinson think this is worth a shot, so we'll try it. Help me
and bear with me! Above all, contact me with suggestions or criticisms!

Again, thanks everyone for your input

Best regards;
Phil McCoy pmccoy@umdnj.edu
