I agree with the two comments already received. Here's a couple more.

Yes.

Absolutely! And NOTHING should be published WITHOUT the author's
permission. Nothing would stifle the free exchange of questions, ideas,
and opinions faster than the threat of having them published without
permission or review.

Yes, but "wider audience" shouldn't be the goal. Distillation or
filtering of information should be (in my opinion). At this point in
time, there are probably more people who do not read their mail because
the signal-to-noise ratio is so poor and they don't have the time than
there are people who can't get access to the internet. (Please note that
I mean CAN'T GET ACCESS, not whether someone has it or not now.) Printing
some stimulating discussions or useful information gleaned from the
mailing list might prod the "wider audience" into getting online.
