What exactly is a "highly trained operator"? As there are no courses
in cell sorting, or flow cytometry for that matter (except, of course,
all these "workshops for a fee" popping up everywhere that no one
can afford), who trains them? If you're like me, you studied what I
refer to as "bootstraps flow cytometry". In future, I think we should
specify "highly experienced operators", in defference to those of us
who learned the good hard way, and never look into the laser beam with
our remaining good eye. Having said (or rather, typed) this, I think
if one were to survey those more liberal (i.e. those which allow the
dreaded "user operation") facilities, one would discover a predominance
of "highly experienced operators".
