F.A.C.S. SPECIALIST
THE J. DAVID GLADSTONE INSTITUTES, San Francisco

The Gladstone Institute of Virology and Immunology, University of
California, San Francisco, is seeking a flourescence activated cell sorter
(FACS) specialist to oversee the flow cytometry operation at the institute.
Two or more years experience with flow cytometry methods including cell
sorting. Must have knowledge of cell biology, computer system, and laser
technologies as they relate to FACS. Familiarity with Becton-Dickinson
equipment is preferred.

Scientific efforts within the Gladstone Institute of Virology and
Immunology are focused on the study of the type 1 human immunodeficiency virus
(HIV-1) and the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Using modern
techniques of molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and immunology,
investigators within this Institute probe virtually all aspects of the life
cycle of HIV-1. Studies are also underway dealing with several other
contemporary topics in virology and immunology including the analysis of the
regulation of type I human T cell leukemia virus (HTLV-1) and poliovirus
replication, molecular characterization of cellular receptors for the avian
leukosis virus, and structure-function studies of the IL-2/IL-2 receptor
system.

We are located at the San Francisco General Hospital campus of the
University of California, San Francisco.

An excellent compensation and benefits package is offered.
