RE: more networking questions

We have a very capable network administrator who has set up
a tcp/ip network for us. He suggested that we use Beame and Whiteside's
NFS for DOS; our campus now has over 100 licenses for this software at
about $100/PC cpu (bulk educational rate). At the time, he was unable to
locate free NFS software for PC's. We use free NFS software for
MacIntoshes. The Beame and Whiteside software seems to be working very
well. We can transfer our listmode files to the Sun unix server, and use
them from any PC (e.g. with WinMDI or MFI) on the network via NFS (mounting
a Sun partition as though it were a local PC hard drive). The B&W package
includes an extensive set of network utilities including ftp and telnet,
and full Windows support. Printer sharing is implemented but
I don't know the details. We are now preparing a document describing
our building network; ask if interested.
