SUBJECT: Fixed HIV+ cells run on a Facstar

Is it safe to analyze paraformaldehyde-fixed lymphocytes from HIV
positive patients using a Facstar PLUS which is not in a containment
facility? I have been advised that once cells are fixed in 1.0%
paraformaldehyde and are incubated for 1.0 hour they are not
biohazardous. I'd like feedback on this since the jet-in-air design of
the Facstar forms an aerosol.

Thanks a bunch,
