About the EPICS Elite and networks ...

I have been using an Elite on a Novell Netware network for 5 years with few
problems. The instrument software and network software seem to coexist
nicely. We store data and print through the network. We also share one
copy of the workstation software among multiple PCs. Recently we have used
an SMC Elite Ultra adapter in the Elite PC.

I am aware of people using both Lantastic and Windows for WG with earlier
versions of the Elite software (pre 4.01). Of course any network software
will work "off-line" from the instrument software.
