We set up a small net (5 PCs) using the Lantastic peer to peer net with the
Elite as one of the nodes. In conjunction with a memory manager (386Max) we
were able (after some work) to get all of the software loaded and have over
600 K free ram in lower memory. NOTE that the Elite software uses an area of
upper memory that MUST be protected. With this system we were able to
download files from the Elite PC while data was being collected. This system
allows the use of a network on an old slow (386DX 25 MHz) PC without the need
for the overhead of Windows. There are also some issues of settings on the
Ethernet cards that need to be addressed with any network. Hope this helps
your decision.
