Fellow Cytometry Lab Managers,

Julie Auger and I are organizing an ad hoc workshop for core
facilities managers (and other interested parties) at the upcoming
ISAC XVII conference. The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn
Library from 2:30 - 3:30 on Monday October 17.

We will hold an open discussion of issues pertinent to operating and
managing shared facilities in the current research environment.

Potential topics could include:

1) Fee structure -

2) Handling problem users, how Drakonian should we get if we see poor
Experimental design, ie inappropriate or no controls.
3) Maintaining the facility.

4) Service contracts on multiple machines - are they necessary.

5) How to generate interest in the facility and establish
credibility.

6) How to be a proper "resource" for the institution (providing
protocols, references etc).

Most importantly, whatever topic the participants feel is necessary.

We hope to see you there.
