Sorting Human cells

Sorting live human cells has been discussed before by this group. We would
like to sort human endothelial cells (HUVECs) which we obtained from ATCC.
Has anyone done this with such a cell line? What precautions would you
suggest? I have discussed this with ATCC but they were able to offer no help
or advice. It appears that they have no opinion regarding sorting cell lines.

I have read with interest a preprint of Janice Giorgi's forthcoming chapter
in Darzynkiewicz' Methods in Cell Biology Vol 42 (Chapter 21) which contains
a most comprehensive discussion of sorting live human cells (or any biohazard).

My question is, is it necessary to go to the lenghts with an endothelial cell
line (human) or not? It is a great concern to me and I have withheld the
experiment until I feel comfortable about this issue.

Experience or advice appreciated.
