HPTOIBM.CODE bug still rampant

DOES ANYONE HAVE THE DEBUGGED VERSION OF HPTOIBM.CODE, THE SERIAL PORT
TRANSFER PROGRAM?? PLEASE CHECK YOUR OLD DISKS. WE'VE BEEN UNABLE TO
LOCATE THE INTACT VERSION FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

Thanks to Mike Lance who donated an IEEE-488 board to us, I've graduated
from REALLY SLOW serial HP->PC transfer to SLOW IEEE-488 transfer. But
there is yet another underfunded compatriot, Nick Crosbie in Townsville,
Australia, who would like to get SERIAL transfer going.

The only recently unearthed HPTOIBM.CODE program has a bug in it which
makes it transmit only every 2nd file. Neither Morgan Conrad (its
author) nor Diether Recktenwald nor anyone at B-D has yet come up
with the debugged version which Morgan says was once available.
The version provided a couple years ago from Bob Murphy had the bug,
as does a version I got from Mike Lance. The bad version calls itself
#1.0, and has a file size of 17,920 bytes. However, Morgan thinks
the good version may have the same version number and byte size. The
file write date is useless since HP Pascal changes it during every copy.
If anyone has a copy of HPTOIBM.CODE which might work properly, please
deposit it by anonymous ftp to /incoming at flowcyt.bio.umass.edu (and tell
me by email). I'll test it, and if it works, make it available to all.
Otherwise, poor Nick will have to do what I did for a year or so --
REALLY SLOW transfer twice, once for the odd files, once for the even files.
:-(
