I have not used the BD kit for measuring apoptosis. However, note that MCF-7
cells lack functional caspase-3 owing to the deletion of the caspase-3 gene.
Therefore, this kit will not be suitable for use in MCF-7 cells. There are a
number of other alternative methods one can use to assess apoptosis. Our
recent data indicate that caspase-7 is cleaved during apoptosis in MCF-7
cells.
