The Lotteries Flow Cytometry Unit is a busy user-pays instrument facility located within the medical school of the University of Western Australia at Perth.The role of the Unit is to provide local researchers with access to flow cytometry instrumentation and expertise. The Unit is looking to employ a part-time (minimum 0.7) manager/operator in support of its ongoing services. The candidate should have a relevant science degree and at least one year experience with flow cytometry in a clinical or research setting. Experience with cell-sorting is desirable but not essential as full training will be available. The role will involve aspects of: Care and operation of the Unit's three instruments (3-colour FACScan, a 4-colour FACSCalibur, and a 5-colour FACS Vantage with TURBOSort); Troubleshooting and quality control; User-training and consultation; Managing instrument use: Administration of the Unit's services. The candidate will be expected to communicate with researchers at all levels, be able to work on their own in a Macintosh computer environment, and to develop their knowledge of flow cytometry applications. The successful candidate will be employed on a 12-month contract in the first instance as a Research Associate with a wage range $37,068-51,035 depending on qualifications and experience.
