Clinical labs often refer to NCCLS guidelines for recommendations of what is good practice. In flow cytometry there are two such NCCLS guideline booklets, NCCLS documents H42-A (QA and Immunophenotyping of Lymphocytes) and H43-A (Immunophenotyping of Leukemic Cells). The website of NCCLS is www.NCCLS.org. Another set of concensus references on clinical flow cytometry were published in Cytometry 30:213-268, 1997 and cover issues of stnadarization, procedure validation, data analysis and interpretation, reporting format, and medical indications. Consensus thoughts on the optimal reagents for use in evaluation of hematolymphoid neoplasias are published in Braylan et al, Cytometry 46:23-27, 2001 Regards, Bruce H. We are in the process of establishing an assay reference guide for our clinical laboratory and would like to capture the functional name, technical name and methodology for flow cytometry testing. I would like to know if there are any national or international guidelines we could follow. Carla
