Dear all, The anti-human CD8 antibody clone BW135/80 cross-reacts with rhesus monkey peripheral blood lymphocytes. CD8-FITC can be used for fluorescent staining. Positive selection or depletion of rhesus monkey CD8+ cells can be perfomed by indirect labeling with MACS CD8-FITC and Anti-FITC MicroBeads. For further information, please contact Miltenyi Biotec (www.miltenyibiotec.com). Colleagues of ours have just warned us that Miltenyi switched the clone of anti-human CD8 that they use with their anti-CD8 beads. The previous one (BD's SK1) works well with rhesus macacques, but the current one (BW135/80) apparently does not. Our colleagues unfortunately spent several months trying to diagnose the problem before they found out (with some probing) that Miltenyi changed antibodies almost 6 months ago without checking if the clone cross-reacts to rhesus. Based on the laboratory experience, the guess is that it very poorly cross reacts (if at all). mr
