Our flow cytometry lab recently had a successful encounter with a program called SMILE (Science and Math Investigative Learning Experiences) where high school students were introduced to the use of a flow cytometer as a tool to provide answers to a "challenge" problem. These students were really excited by flow cytometry!!! This program was so much fun that, now, we would like to continue working with these students in an outreach program this summer. The whole goal is to provide hands-on science experience to educationally-disadvantaged students. We want to encourage them to pursue careers in the sciences and mathematics. I've searched the web for educational tools related to flow cytometry. I've found lots of wonderful PowerPoint presentations but we would also like to find educational material that will really excite these students, such as video clips. So, knowing that this group is a terrific source of information, I thought I would address this group directly. Are there any video clips available for use in a classroom situation? Or any other material that would be suitable for high school students? Any suggestion(s) would be welcomed. Thanks in advance, Julie Oughton Oregon State University EHSC flow cytometry lab
