Here is a summary of the results I got from "one more survey": 21 laboratories responded. Of these, two were 100% self supported by user fees and one was 100% supported by the institution with which it was associated. The rest of the laboratories covered a range of 10%-90%(n=1) of their operating costs and salaries with user fees. The balance of costs not covered by fees was covered by the university, the center or the department in which the facility was located. If you were looking for a more detailed summary, email me personally (of course I will keep institution names confidential). Obviously, everyone's facility is set up differently with different cytometers, different support staff, different funding sources, etc. I got the answer I was looking for - even the most productive labs need outside funding sources. I hope this has been of interest to ya'll, and I thank everyone who responded. Looking forward to ISAC, Julie Julie G.
