Yes, it can.  However, the side scatter measurement will only help you if
only one of these morphologic characteristics differs between cells under
different experimental conditions.  If there are differences in blebbing
and surface roughness and granularity, it will be difficult to figure how
much of the difference in signals is due to each factor.
