Dear Friends and Collegues in Cytometry/Cytomics, As one of the "old-timers", please let me, on behalf of all of us, express our gratitude to Paul Robinson and Steve Kelley for providing this service. I do not have to list the achievements - Paul did it very eloquently in his message. Indeed, in many respects, this is a unique Board. The cohesive elements for this group are comradery and willingness to help each other. Paul grafted these elements from the begining, and they found fertile environment among the members to flourish. Given the rapid growth of the technologies and methods of cytometry/cytomics, there is need for "continuing education" and "ad hoc" help that can complement formal courses and tutorials e.g. organized by ISAC, or our collegues from Los Alamos, Bowdein College or Dartmouth University. This informal internet discussion board provides such educational help, and this is its greatest achievement. I believe that the presence of this service significantly contributes that perusing scientific literature we are now seeing more and more "good" - and proportionally fewer "bad" - published cytometry data.
