ISAC has established a new award (called the "Membership Award") that is supposed to be very "bottom up" -- reflecting the opinion of the members of ISAC in wanting to honor someone who has given "exceptional service to the cytometry community." All of us are grass roots cytometrists and many of us are members of ISAC. Instead of complaining that so much of ISAC seems to reflect the opinions of the gray-haired establishment, now is the time to take advantage of this award and make our opinions known. In other words, we are the bottom and it is time to put our opinions up. So, I suggest that anyone who is a member of ISAC send in a suggestion. The information from ISAC says that you should send your nominations via e-mail to ISAC Executive Director, Rick Koepke, at rkoepke@isac-net.org <mailto:rkoepke@isac-net.org> no later than Friday, 30 November 2001. Please provide the following information for each person you nominate: * the name of each nominee * contact information if the nominee is not an ISAC member (institution, address, phone, e-mail) * a brief description of the exceptional service the nominee has provided to the cytometric community, such that the nominee warrants selection for the Membership Award.
