Tragedy and Aftermath

It could have been me, my family, or friends who were in those
buildings or planes. We are neither exempt or immune, just fortunate.
Others, of course, were not. And that is one point of terrorism, to
cause death, pain, and fear about which one has no control over. I am
saddened and sickened by the whole mess, and hope to do a small part
in helping those less fortunate deal with their loss.

For those of us who are fortunate, we also need to decide how to move
on to the future. I offer two short opinion articles from the local
daily San Francisco newspaper which I think present views that should
be considered. I especially recommend them to readers of this list
outside the U.S., as the writing may help understand a part of this
country.
