Ray, I don't know what the answer is on your enterprise, but I will
add a note about the power supply - there are two sets of
fuses....one inside the PS and the other in the small metal case
enclosing the power cord entry to the power supply. We have
blown 3 sets of the outside fuses over the years. Initially we did not
even know that there were fuses there and were baffled that the
darn thing would not fire up..fuses inside were fine.......Sorry
probably not a fix for your problem,

Perhaps you can take it to the US as accompanied luggage and
get your institution to pay the way - take a small vacation?? Ok
just a suggestion...

Hi,

Does anyone have experience trouble-shooting the Coherent
Enterprise
laser, or know of a service company in the UK who do? Coherent
UK
tell me that they don't touch them, and the OEM doesn't offer
contract
cover (which came to light after we bought it), so I'd like to have a
go at fixing it before we hand it over to be shipped back to the
States.

My problem is that the power supply continuously produces a high
pitched loud whine but won't lase. I presume the whine is related to
it generating the striking voltage to generate the plasma, since it
normally produces this whine for two or three seconds immediately
before lasing. No fault lights come on (except the current limit
light, which stays illuminated as it normally would until lasing
commences), and the laser emission warning lights work, there's no
tube current.

Any ideas would be appreciated,

cheers

Ray

ps I had a similar problem with another Enterprise, the OEM in that
case swapped the system and I never found out what the cause or cure
might be
