We too use beads to align the instrument on a daily basis. This "habit"
stems from our early days in flow when Ortho provided a particle suspension
to align the forward scatter parameter. We extended this to also include
fluorescence parameters. There are many good bead products on the market
for this purpose. These are especially useful in the research setting
where optimization of several parameters needs to be performed several
times a day. Especially when using multiple lasers or changing excitation
wave lengths .
