Mouse Splenocytes

Hello everybody!

I have recently started working with mice (non obese diabetic (NOD) as well as Balb/c). I use splenocytes which I harvest by smashing spleen followed by RBC lysis by a lysis buffer.
In my forward and side scatter I see on extreme left hand side debris follwed by two groups of cells on its right hand side. The extreme right hand side group actually looks more like the splenocytes. But when I stain these cells with CD4 antibody , both goups of cells stain very well with it.
I am confused, which group of cells truely represent the splenocytes or there is some problem with my FACS calibur settings.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
