I am expanding my laboratory at the Vaccine Research Center, NIH.
Currently, we are recruiting for technical support (GS-9/11
biologist, $44K-$58K, depending on qualifications) as well as for
postdoctoral fellows.

Note that we have an outstanding Loan Repayment Program for qualified
applicants with a PhD and/or MD: In addition to standard salary and
benefits, the NIH will pay back up to $35,000 per year (tax free) of
medical or graduate student loans, for a period of 2-4 years.

Biologist:

We are seeking an individual with both flow cytometry as well as
basic research experience for the new Vaccine Research Center (VRC,
NIAID, NIH) flow cytometry facility. The core facility will contain
an analyzer as well as two high-speed sorters. One sorter will be
operational in the building's P3 biohazard facility; the other will
be capable of 12-color analysis. The core facility will be located on
the top floor of the new Building 40 on the NIH Bethesda campus.

Duties will include routine instrument operation for other users, as
well as assisting and training users to perform FACS-based assays and
data analysis. In addition, this individual will assist in the
development and QA/QC of reagents for the facility, including the
maintenance of a 12-color antibody library.

The successful applicant should have at least 3 years of experience
with immunophenotyping and at least 1 year experience in basic
laboratory techniques, as well as a medical technology or bachelor's
degree or higher. Considering the significant amount of interaction
with users, excellent interpersonal skills are required.

To apply for this position, you must apply directly to the NIH as
directed on this link. Do not send your application to me directly!

Postdoctoral Fellows:

The VRC is a newly-created center that brings together a diverse
group of scientists with the goal of advancing vaccine-related
research as well as initiating and advancing vaccine candidates
through clinical trials. For more information, see
http://vrc.nih.gov/.

Postdoctoral positions are available to study mucosal and central
immune responses, both in healthy individuals and in the setting of
HIV or SIV infection. In particular, we are studying the
differentiation pathways of T cells in response to various forms of
antigen presentation, the in vivo dynamics of antigen-specific T
cells, and the resulting repertoire of functional antigen responses.
Our laboratory utilizes powerful 11-color flow cytometry technology
(see De Rosa et al. in the February issue of Nature Medicine), as
well as state-of-the art imaging and molecular instrumentation to
provide a unique and unparalleled view of the complexity of the
immune system. For these positions, we are looking for highly
motivated and creative individuals with an M.D. or Ph.D. and
experience in cellular or molecular immunology. Interested
candidates should send a copy of their CV, and contact information
including phone and email addresses of three references to:
