Virus-infected tissues

I'm in need of a method that can be used to inactivate an enveloped
virus (hantavirus) in whole blood samples (e.g. EDTA, Na citrate)
without compromising the integrity of platelets and leukocytes. I'll
want to do platelet and retic counts, and 3-part diffs by flow, but I
don't want to risk aerosolizing the virus. Does anyone know of such a
method?

Thanks,

Tony
