YALE HEMATOPATHOLOGY FELLOWSHIP The Departments of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Yale New Haven Hospital / Yale School of Medicine offer a one year fellowship in hematopathology. The fellow receives comprehensive training in all aspects of hematology including: morphologic interpretation of blood, bone marrow and lymph nodes; flow cytometry; cytogenetics; molecular diagnostics; evaluation of hemoglobinopathies ; hematopoietic progenitor cell analysis; and state-of-the-art genetic, proteomic and cellular evaluation of disorders of thrombosis and hemostasis. The fellow is an integral part of a multidisciplinary hematology-oncology patient-care team at the Yale Comprehensive Cancer Center and also has the opportunity to gain experience in performing procedures such as marrow aspirates, biopsies, FNA, and hematopoietic stem cell apheresis. The fellow is encouraged to take advantage of opportunities for basic science, translational and clinical research working with mentors from the departments of Pathology (http://info.med.yale.edu/pathol/), Laboratory Medicine (http://info.med.yale.edu/labmed/), and the Cancer Center but also with faculty from other basic science and clinical departments at the Yale School of Medicine including the Boyer Center for Molecular Medicine.
