LDS751 is not DNA specific.  What you want is a new dye, DRAQ5, described
by Paul Smith <smithpj2@cf.ac.uk> et al in the August 1, 2000 issue of
Cytometry (40:280-291); this is the first dye of which I am aware that
gives reasonable DNA histograms from live cells with 488 nm excitation.
