You might want to try DRAQU5  (see Paul J Smith in Cytometry 40:280-291 (2000).
Whilst better excited with the HENE, it also seems to to work with 488nm
excitation and w/o fixing the cells.

How about 7-AAD? This fluorescence is detected by FL3, which
requires least level of conpensation with GFP. I hope this will help you.
