Hi,

We are having a problem with our ACAS 570 that results in the cells on
the microscope stage coming in and out of focus while in the kinetics image
scan mode. It seems to oscillate in and out of focus (one complete
cycle) about every 120 secs. Although the problem was first noticed
while assaying viable cells, it has been confirmed with fluorescence of
non-viable cells so the fluorescence should have remained stable.

I believe it may be the end coder - a little gizmo inside the fine focus
housing (actually it's the gizmo to which the fine focus knob is
attached). The part we have has the following on a label:

	SOFTPOT
	USDigital
	(206) 576-0514
	S1-100MT

(an older one that we had replaced earlier says,
	SP-100
and gives an address for USDigital in Los Alamitos, CA, but they
	are apparently out of business)

Can anyone suggest a source for this 'end coder'?

Thanks for any help.

Ray
