Colleagues: The facilty at Purdue is planning to replace our aging sorters within the next several months. It's a long time since I purchased a flow cytometer and I need some help. The Purdue facility, from which this discussion list operates, is undergoing a major upgrade and expansion in both flow and imaging facilties over the next couple of years. My goal is to re-orient our environment for the next 5-10 years to accommodate changing technologies and research directions. If anyone out there has purchased in the last year or two and would be willing to share some information with me on a confidential basis, I would be very grateful. Since everyone seems to get "special deals" on condition they don't share any secrets it really makes it difficult to know what sort of value one can achieve with the $$ we have. I am currently looking at all three companies who make sorters since my major goal is to replace my sorters. I am presently going through the time-consuming process of evaluating both the companies service, instruments, and what I think is their likely future role in cytometry. Every little bit of info helps! If you can help me, I can email you just a few questions. If you have advice for me, I'd be happy to receive it. Please email me at my private address jpr@flowcyt.cyto.purdue.edu rather than the list.
