I have a question for those doing flow crossmatches and under the control of ASHI certification of the lab. I have been told that in order for our HLA lab to maintain ASHI certification, that the HLA director must be "in charge" of the flow cytometry lab and personnel in order to continue the program certification to perform flow crossmatches. Has anyone else been challenged with this issue? How have you dealt with this administrative process that seems to foster suboptimal laboratory medicine practice? Thanks, Bruce H.
