Hi, I think B-D sorters use .18mm internal diameter 2mm external diameter silicone or similar tubing, the nearest I've ever got to this is .254mm id silicone tubing from a company called Altec in the UK (http://www.altecweb.com/asp/B_listcategory.asp?categno=1500&rangeno=E05&rangetitle=AlteSil%99+Silicone+Rubber+Tubing). It's MUCH cheaper than the B-D stuff (approx two pounds per metre rather than tens of pounds per piece from B-D), but you'll find that you need a lower sample differential pressure to get an acceptable cell flow rate. You might need to pre-stretch one end of the tubing to get it to slide onto the nozzle holder easily, if so you can insert the tip of a pair of fine forceps as far as you can and leave over-night to stretch. It's important that you choose a soft plastic like silicone or perhaps Tygon for the sorter sample tubing, because the pinch valve isn't strong enough to clamp off the flow for polystyrene, polythene, pvc or ptfe (teflon) when you put the machine into standby (which means that the sample can be diluted very quickly by the sheath back-flow). I hope this helps, Ray At 1:05 pm -0700 6/6/00, P S Manogaran wrote: >Dear flow users, > >We are running short of BD FACS sample tubing.
