I'm not sure about the relative hard disk speeds. My impression is that the size of the buffer in the CD recorder can be very important here. If you had persistent problems burning at 8x then you can always tell the recorder to burn at 4x or even 2x. Alternatively you could buy a faster SCSI card... Be aware that when you are burning CDs the computer can do nothing else. Adrian
