case study

Recently we received two separate specimens from two kids.
One 10 day old and one couple years old. The 10 day had
22.2 wbc, ~50% lymphs and 2% B cells. The other had 0% B
cells and a regular white and lymph count. All the other
cells were in the green.

What would cause a complete B cell depletion other than congenital
factors? Could HIV have an effect there?

Thanks for any responses,

maciej
