NBD C6-ceramide

I have a client that is staining with
7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazole(NBD)C6-ceramide. According to the information he
supplied to me, ie the Molecular Probes catalog, the fluorescence of NBD is
dependent on the solvent. He ran the samples before in PBS and saw very little
signal, so he wants to run samples in 100% MeOH. This doesn't sound like a good
idea to me for a number of reasons. Is there a way to make this work? I would
most appreciate any info on this subject.
