confocal vs deconvolution microscopy

I've been asked to determine the need for a multi-user confocal microscope
here at Penn State. In canvassing our faculty, those with strong feelings
have suggested that we look at deconvolution microscopy. Is there some
good description of this technology (ie. review article, website) and
comparisons of what various instruments can do? What are the advantages and
disadvantages of having this over the confocal? Do any of you have
instruments that you feel strongly about (either negatively or positively)?
