Re: G4's will run OS8.6 (ours sure wouldn't)

Hi Keith,

Our G4 most definitely would not run OS 8.6 - I tried booting it from an 8.6 CD
and it would not boot. (other Macs would boot of this CD however). Also, we
called Apple and they categorically told us that 8.6 would **not** run on newer
G4s and there was absolutely nothing they could do about it.

I still find it odd that Apple should make a machine incapable of running an
earlier, still current, OS. Why should I be forced to upgrade all my software
and be precluded from running other software, if my 18-month old machine poops
out and I need to buy a new one? I agree that B-D should be up to date with
the latest developments, but I do think they have a right to expect some
measure of continued support for the OS necessary to run their product ,
especially when I remember that they had faith to stick with Macs even when it
seemed that Apple was going down the tube.
