time delay on BD Calibur...

Dera flow users:

I am working on a Calibur equivalent which was upgraded from 1-laser
FACSort. The concept of "time delay calibration" is not very clear to me.
And I do run into problems of not being able to have consistent success of
time-delay calibration. I am wondering if it is appropriate to run 4-color
samples with about 50% of the success rate of time-delay calibration. Should
we make sure we have consistent success rate of time-delay calibration before
running samples? Can someone enlighten me in this aspect or point me to some
references? Thanks. It is especially puzzling since I can adjust time-delay
knob to see if the signals from 2nd laser are processed properly on FACStar
plus. What is the difference between Calibur and FACStar plus in handling
time delay?
