Looks like it should NOT work.

Essentially no absorbance of either the calcium-bound or calcium-free
forms of indo-1 at 407 nm

Absorption and fluorescence emission (excited at 338 nm) spectra of
Ca2+-saturated (A) and Ca2+-free (B) indo-1 (I-1202) in pH 7.2 buffer.
