Flow Cytometry Core Technician

The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) seeks to hire a
Biologist/Chemist/ Medical Technologist within the Hematology Branch.  The
incumbent would work in the flow cytometry laboratory which consists of
analyzers, sorters, and a fluorescent microscope with camera.  The incumbent
would provide consultation services for experimental design, perform
experiments in collaboration with investigators, review data, and teach
procedures for use of the analyzers.  Duties also include operating a cell
sorter,  instrument maintenance and operation, collection and storage of
patient specimens and execution of CLIA requirements, computer data
management and scheduling, budget tracking, and participate in the
establishment of rules and operating procedures.

Applicants should provide evidence of knowledge, skills and abilities in the
following: 1) Application of the principles of chemistry, biology, medical
technology, or related field, to the design and performance of laboratory
experiments; 2) Experience compiling data, evaluating results, and
evaluating procedures for efficiency and accuracy; 3) Ability to communicate
orally and in writing.

Applicants must have experience in the application and evaluation of results
in experiments utilizing flow cytometry.

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary and benefits.
Depending on qualifications and experience, the position can be filled at
the GS-11/GS-12.  Promotion to GS-13 is possible.  For information on how to
