Our FACS II was the first cell sorter in the southern hemisphere and it's still running nicely (even as I write). However, there are a couple of parts held by baling wire and blue tac that could use some refurbishing. Hence my appeal to any mature-age cytometrists who may have boxes of old FACS II bits or even old FACS IIs gathering cobwebs. What I need most are: 1. Coloured glass door to the stream interrogation area. In fact, a FACS IV door with the pin that latches the laser interlock would be even better (our FACS II door had the magnetic slug). 2. Stream illumination lamps, or even just the silicon-shrouded sockets for them. 3. Forward scatter first iris, lens and beam splitting cube. 4. The "L"-shaped box that encloses the laser steering mirrors (since ours has been hack-sawn once too often). 5. Fluorescence channel obscuration bar. 6. Small mirror for viewing the stream strobe light. ... or virtually any other small parts that usually get corroded by salt or bent or broken. We'll pay freight of course and apart from that we can negotiate prices. Frank ...
