Mark -
I think the difference in rates is due to difference in instrument used
- a
bench top analyzer vs a sorter. Our charges are $20/hr on the benchtop
instrument, $60/hr on the sorter. We charge more for sorting because it
costs more to maintain a sorter - service contracts are higher and
instrument depreciation is higher. These are things that should be taken
into account when doing a complete cost analysis. Of course, we charge
the same rate to use the sorter for analysis as we do for sorting.

We also have a differential rate for Cancer Center members because of
Cancer center subsidy for our core.

This is one issue that will be discussed at the Core Facility Managers
Workshop at the upcoming ISAC meeting. I hope you will be able to attend.

Best wishes,
Julie
