Position Available
DNA Expression Array Facility

The new Cancer Center Gene Expression Array [GeneChip] Facility
requires an individual to work under the Director of this Facility and
provide Cancer
Center research personnel access to micro-array analyses of mRNA expression.

Responsibilities will include interaction with investigators to help
devise strategies for the most productive employment of micro-array
technology,
supervision and execution of RNA extraction from a wide variety of cell and
tissue sources, initial characterization of RNA quality following
extraction, execution of hybridization and performance of scanning analysis
of gene chips and finally data reduction and analysis.

To fulfill this role, this individual will be expected to acquire
and maintain up-to-date expertise in microarray technology and should be
able to
implement or introduce new procedures as they are developed. Excellent
inter-personal skills are essential, since this individual will direct
analytical procedures for a broad cross section of University investigators
and interact on a regular basis with the technical staff at AffyMetrix and
other GeneChip Facilities.

Two Types of Candidates Will Be Considered:

	1.	Recent PhDs who would like to spend 1-2 years receiving
postdoctoral training in this emerging area. This position would afford
this type of
individual the opportunity to gain significant expertise with an exciting
new technology and to be involved in the early stages of development of
experimental approaches and data reduction using large expression arrays.

	2.	Research Associates [PhD degree] or Research Assistants [10 or more
years of experience in a molecular biology laboratory] who would like the
challenge of being involved in developing a DNA Expression Array Facility at
CWRU and would continue to manage the day-to-day operation of the Facility
and be involved in developing new services to meet the needs of the Cancer
Center Research Community.
