We have been using a Percoll method described by Budzko et al.
Laboratory Investigation 53(5): 586, 1985. We use this for rhesus and
baboon and are satisfied with the yield, purity, viablity, and
functionality. We have noted that the primate MNC preps obtained
using Percoll generally contain fewer granuloctyes than preps made
using Ficoll. However, the Percoll-purified primate preps generally
contain more granulocytes than Ficoll-purified human MNC.

RE>Primate Mononuclear cell isolation Dear Dan

The density is 1.070-1.080 g/ml. and for cyno's (macaca fascicularis) we dilute
this medium with RPMI to a 90% dilution.

Biomedicals Inc. Aurora, Ohio 44202 (1-800-854-530) for rhesus macaques
