It is not obvious to me how dCTP could be specific for detecting apoptosis
using standard TUNEL reaction conditions.  Are there special ionic
components of the TdT buffer which somehow allow select for "specific"
incorporation of dCTP only onto the ends of DNA generated as a result of
apoptosis?

I would be very interested in seeing references to published works
describing the development and characterization of the procedure.
