I have used TO-PRO3 on measurements with bacteria. It behaves like ethidium bromide, e.g. as a supravital stain. If you use a low enough concentration however it will take a long time to stain intact cells but will be in the permeabilised cells immediately. Dear all: we are searching for a dead-cell exclusion die to be detected in FL-4 (we have a 2 laser FACSCalibur). Has any of you had any experience with TO-PRO-3 (sold by Molecular Probes), so to either suggest or warmly disencourage its use? Alternatively, did you come across to some other possible candidate? Thanks. Alessandra Nardin -- LUTI-IDM 15, rue de l'Ecole de Médecine 75006 Paris tel. +33 (0)1 53 10 17 70 fax +33 (0)1 53 10 17 80
