We've been using a Power Mac 7300/200 on our Facstar Plus for about 2 years now. Becton-Dickinson does not "officially" support it, I believe, and expects everyone to plod along on the old Quadras. They do however sell an upgrade to the Facstar which makes it think that it is a Vantage and therefore will work with a more modern Mac. The upgrade and the faster computer work just fine. At the time we purchased it, the upgrade and the new PCI interface card cost us around $10,500 from B-D plus the Mac which we purchased elsewhere. I recently added in a G3 accelerator card (PowerLogix G3 300/150/1Mb) and the computer runs even faster :-) No problems detected (yet), _and_ I'm using MacOS 8.6. We're using CellQuest 3.1f. Becton-Dickinson are sadly lacking in their software update/upgrade notification policy so I have no idea what the latest version is. If you have 3.2.1 they must have done at least 2 revs or so since 3.1. Hopefully they didn't break anything... -- Fellow Flower David Chambers Salk Institute Flow Cytometry, La Jolla, CA.
