Hi David,

There have been publications correlating coulter volume and FSC measurements
in the "early" days: I recall papers by Mullaney's group back in  1969! You
should try to get the first edition of "flow cytometry and sorting" edited
by Melamed, Mullaney and Mendelsohn (1979) where you can find a wealth of
"old" references.
