How do the several Hoechst dyes differ?

Can someone tell me what are the practical differences, if any, between the
DNA dyes Hoechst 33342, Hoechst 33258 and Hoechst 2495? Do they have
different binding properties? Different retention properties? We are trying
to label sperm in vivo in snails. When we use Hoechst 33342 the cells look
great while in the male, but once transfered to the female the label seems to
leak out. Thanks,
